Hey there, fellow archer!

If you’re like me, the moment the new year starts, you already start thinking about where you’ll be shooting next. Whether you’re a total beginner who just bought your first bow, a parent looking for fun activities with your kids, or a competitive shooter chasing that next PR — 2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for archery in the United States.

USA Archery just released the full national schedule, and I’m genuinely excited to share it with you. Let’s go through the highlights together so you can start planning your season!

Why 2026 Feels Special

This year brings a great mix of big national events, regional opportunities, and plenty of beginner-friendly competitions. The sport continues to grow, especially among youth and first-time shooters, and the atmosphere at these events is exactly what makes archery so addictive — friendly, supportive, and full of good vibes.

These are fantastic events for beginners because the format is welcoming and there are usually plenty of experienced archers happy to give tips.

Field & 3D Nationals – Yankton, South Dakota (June 3–6) This is the big one. Yankton is basically archery heaven. You’ll shoot through beautiful terrain, face 3D animal targets, and compete in one of the most respected events in the country. Many people consider this the highlight of their archery year.

Collegiate Target Nationals (May 14–17) East Lansing, Michigan Even if you’re not in college, this event is worth watching. The energy is electric and it’s inspiring to see young athletes competing at such a high level.

USAT Series Final & Target Nationals (August) These events usually crown the best archers of the year and offer great spectating opportunities.

Tips from Someone Who’s Been There

If you’re thinking about attending your first national event in 2026, here’s my friendly advice:

  • Start with an Indoor National near you — they’re less intimidating and great for building confidence.
  • Book your hotel early — rooms fill up fast around big events.
  • Bring ear protection (indoor ranges get loud!) and plenty of water.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The archery community is one of the friendliest out there.

How to Get Involved Right Now

  1. Visit the official USA Archery event calendar and mark your favorites.
  2. Join a local JOAD club (they often organize trips to nationals).
  3. Start training consistently — even 20–30 minutes a few times a week makes a huge difference.

The best part? You don’t need to be an elite athlete to enjoy these events. Many people go just to learn, meet new friends, and have fun in a beautiful setting.

Ready to make 2026 your best archery year yet?

Drop in the comments: Which event are you most excited about? Have you ever been to Yankton? Or are you planning your very first competition?

We’ll keep this calendar updated throughout the year with registration links, results, and travel tips.
